What is Reiki?

Reiki is a Japanese technique for stress reduction and relaxation that also promotes healing. It involves the use of "laying on hands" method. With the client fully clothes, the Reiki Practitioner places their hands on or just above the client's body while tapping into an unseen energy called "life force energy". An experienced Reiki Practitioner or Reiki Master can easily tap into this energy; which is what causes us to feel alive and guides this energy to the receiver. If one's "life force energy" is low, then we are more likely to get sick, feel stress or depression. By increasing this Universal Energy within oneself, we will become more capable of being happier, better balanced and healthier. The Reiki Practitioner never places his/her hands directly on any "private area's" of the body.

The word Reiki is made of two Japanese words - Rei which means "God's Wisdom or the Higher Power" and Ki which is "life force energy". So Reiki is actually "spiritually guided life force energy." A treatment feels like a wonderful glowing radiance that flows through and around you. Some will experience feelings of hot or cold, pulsating sensations, tingling or feelings of euphoria through meditation.

Reiki treats the whole person including body, emotions, mind and spirit creating many beneficial effects that includes deep relaxation and feelings of peace, security and wellbeing. While it is a healing energy, beyond the physical benefits, it can also help psychologically to reduce feelings of depression. This method of treatment promotes healing and also work's gently and safely in conjunction with all medical treatments. This gentle process of therapy feeds the entire body and soul.

Reiki is a simple, natural and safe method of spiritual healing and self-improvement that everyone can use.It has been effective in helping virtually every known illness and malady and always creates a beneficial effect and balance. It also works in conjunction with all other medical or therapeutic techniques to relieve side effects and promote recovery.

While Reiki is spiritual in nature, it is not a religion, it has no dogma and there is nothing you must believe in or not. Here is a little history on Reiki: During a meditation several years after developing Reiki, Dr. Usui decided to add the Reiki Ideals to the practice of Reiki. The Ideals came in part from the five principles of the Meiji emperor of Japan whom Dr. Usui admired. The Ideals were developed to add spiritual balance to Usui Reiki. Their purpose is to help people realize that healing the spirit by consciously deciding to improve oneself is a necessary part of the Reiki healing experience.

- Just for today, do not anger

- Do not worry and be filled with gratitude

- Devote yourself to your work. Be kind to people.

- Every morning and evening, join your hands in prayer.

Pray these words to your heart and chant these words with your mouth.

Solo-Professionals Overlook Outdated Information on Web Pages

In 2009, how you make money as a work-at-home entrepreneur is nothing like it was 2, 3, even 5 years ago. Times have changed - drastically - and so has how your potential buyers spend their money.

You can no longer afford to show outdated information in the hopes that someone will buy your wares. Why? Because it's not a true representation of how your product or service can work in today's world. And, if you truly want to help others (vs. just turning a quick buck), give your web site(s) a quick review and see if any of these apply to your information.

  1. Bank Statements/Checks. In an effort to show you that you have made"real money" using your own program, youmay sometimes show a bank statement orcheck. When you look at these items, what date do they show?If the date is more than a year old, are you sure you're not misleading the potential buyer? The world was much different in 2007, 2006 and prior to that time. What held true then, does not hold true today.Unless you can show recent proofof sales, remove these from your sales page until you can showinformation more reflective of the times.
  2. Web SiteDate.Atthe bottom of every web site you have, there isa copyright date (or their should be).Look at that date. If your sitehasn't been updatedwithin a year of the current year, what does this show to potential buyers? It shows a lack of attention to detail. Maybe this is just an oversight on your part, but this date should be used as a reminder to yourself to review yourinformation.Show your potential buyer that you are up-to-date and how your product/service works in the world as it is right now!.
  3. Testimonials. How often do you check your testimonials? One of the most horrifying things that can happen is having a testimonial redirect someone to a pagethat is no longer there, or has nothing to do with what the testimonial says.A testimonial is a way for your potential buyer to validate that your product or service is worthwhile. If they do their research and visit the web pages of the people giving you testimonials, youbetter make sure that what they see is what you want them to see.Review your testimonial page at least every 3 months and ensure you're getting the benefit you expect.

Cash is hard to come by for everyone these days- and your potential buyers areno exception. Part of earning their dollars is offering a quality product and service that is in keeping with the times. It's just the little things - like those mentioned above - that yield the biggest reward!

Annual Forecast & Feng Shui Remedies for 2007 : Yin Red Fire Pig Year - Snake Sign Chinese Zodiac

The Chinese Zodiac Astrology is ancient, interesting, accurate and loved by millions across the world. The Chinese Zodiac is based on cyclic concept of time : a cycle of 12 years, repeated again and again. The 12 Years are associated with 12 Celestial Animals : Rat (or Mouse on Mongoose), Ox (or Buffalo or Bull or Cow), Tiger, Rabbit (or Hare or Cat), Dragon, Snake (or Serpent), Horse, Goat (or Sheep or Ram), Monkey, Rooster (or Hen or Cock or Chicken or Phoenix), Dog and Pig (or Boar or Hog). The animal names occasionally differ with the Oriental Country they originate. The Chinese Yearly Horoscopes are basically built around these 12 Animal Signs.

Your Chinese Astrological Zodiac Animal Sign is directly based on the Chinese Lunar Year of Birth that you were born. The Chinese New Year is mobile and could start anywhere between 21st January and 20th February, depending upon the year. If your Date of Birth falls into any of the following Chinese Lunar Years, then, because you are born in the Year of the Snake (or Serpent), you are symbolically identified by your Celestial Animal, the "Snake (or Serpent)" :

From 04 Feb 1905 to 24 Jan 1906

From 23 Jan 1917 to 10 Feb 1918

From 10 Feb 1929 to 29 Jan 1930

From 27 Jan 1941 to 14 Feb 1942

From 14 Feb 1953 to 02 Feb 1954

From 02 Feb 1965 to 20 Jan 1966

From 18 Feb 1977 to 06 Feb 1978

From 06 Feb 1989 to 26 Jan 1990

From 24 Jan 2001 to 11 Feb 2002

In Chinese Hsia Calender, 2007 is the 4704th year and significantly, is also the fourth year of the New Feng Shui Land Luck Cyclic Period 8. The forthcoming new Chinese Lunar Year is from 18th February 2007 to 6th February 2008. The next Chinese New Year, the Yang Earth Rat will begin on 7th February 2008.

Enjoy the Annual Forecasts and learn about the suggested Feng Shui & Crystal Remedies that you may need for the coming "New Lunar Year 2007 : Ding Hai, the Year of the Yin Red Fire Pig" :

CAREER An inauspicious year of reversed fortunes. In 2007, your Celestial Animal Snake is conflicting the Year TaiSui (Grand Duke Jupiter). This war-like energy field will involve you in gossips and scandals, discredit your reputation and spoil your career. It will seem as though your hard work will go without results, progress halted and your talents disrespected. Projects at finishing stage might collapse. Maintain old and regular clients while entering and establishing new markets. You should create opportunities yourself and make the most of them by putting in considerable efforts and by becoming flexible in your approach. Your progress will be very modest but the knowledge and experience that you gain now will bear fruit in the coming years. By acting tactfully and managing your affairs discreetly, you can create strategically useful friendships which can get you through a difficult year. Most of you will be spending the year outside of your regular place but refrain from switching careers or jobs right now. Do not cut corners for short term gains or take up false opportunities of enticements - you might end up in a legal trap that could destroy you. Inaugurate the statue or photo of the Protector Kuan Kung in the North West to watch over you in these hard times. If you were born in 1989, you might loose valuables and money in a theft. Employed Snakes will fare much better than the Self-employed Snakes. You will do good this year if you have anything to do with trading, marketing, travels, transportation, imports and exports. Whether you are self-employed or salaried worker, you are in dire need of the blessings of the TaiSui this year. Display the genuine, energised photographs of "Feng Ji, the 2007 TaiSui" and the "TaiSui Protection Talisman for 2007" in the North West and carry their miniature versions in your pocket or purse, for minimising the severe negative impacts that you are likely to suffer this year. Do not attend burial ceremonies or cremation rituals this year.

MONEY Fluctuating cash flow will dishearten you. Do not indulge in frivolous spending but tighten your belt. At least one heavy spending is awaiting you, because of your conflict with the Year TaiSui : could even be the expense of shifting your home or office. Requirements might force you to look for loans. Be prudent when you disburse money. When drawing up new contracts, be wary of fine prints. There could be some mistakes or you might even be cheated. Stay away from speculative investments and gambling - you hardly have any windfall luck this year. Keep a set of "Four Heavenly Kings" coins to minimise money erosions.

HEALTH As you are in conflict with the Year TaiSui, you are prone to frustrations and blood injuries. Frustrations will lead to depressions and depressions will lead to carelessness and recklessness. Such extreme moods will lead to many accidents. Accidents will lead to injuries, sprains and fractures, especially in your legs, hips, face and teeth. Drive very carefully and always follow the rules of the road. Do not participate in any type of risky sports. Be on guard when you take the staircase. You can sincerely attempt to prevent the destined "bloodshed" by donating blood voluntarily. Some of you might get respiratory problems and digestive disorders. Avoid stimulants like alcohol and tobacco. Do yoga and meditate. By hanging a real and original Chinese Wou-Lou (near your bedside), you can drain out quite a lot of sick energy from the negative atmosphere surrounding you. If you were born in 1941, heart, eye and stomach problems may trouble you. If you are a female born in 1953, watch out for gynecological ailments.

LOVE Do not bring the pressures and stress at work into your family life. If you do, you will have to face severe consequences. Your unbalanced emotions will make mountains out of molehills and upset precious equations. You need the support of your family in this taxing year - you will get it too, if you do not spoil it yourself. Install the statue of the Three Generations Dragon Head Turtles in the East. Singles may not find a proper anchoring relationship that they are looking for.

STUDIES Apparent clash with the TaiSui will make you rebellious. You will fall prey to the wrong gang and mix with negative friends. As a result your studies will suffer greatly. Questions will be raised about your motivations. Your integrity will suffer. You will be restless and moody. Seek the help of your family and heed their advice. Display the "Protection Talisman for 2007" in the North West of your study room and always carry a small photo of Feng Ji, the TaiSui of 2007, in your pocket. If you were born in 2001, you should be under constant care and attention.

Birthstone : Opal Good Relationships with : Rooster and Ox, for 2007 Conflicts with : Tiger, Snake and Pig, for 2007 Polarity Force : More Yang Lucky Numbers : 1, 2, 4, 6, 13, 24, 42 and 46 Zodiac Protector : Puxian or Samantabhadra (Sanskrit)

A NOTE ABOUT REMEDIES :

The above analysis has suggested some remedies/cures for reducing the impact of negative energy and has recommended certain enhancers for increasing and improving upon the beneficial energy of the year. For the remedies/enhancers to be effective, they should be cleansed, energised, blessed and programmed not only for the particular individual/family but also for the specific purpose/problem. They should also be placed in the indicated location, to derive the maximum benefit. Any or all of these remedies can be reused for the forthcoming new years, but they may have to be repositioned according to the specific new year.

Qi Giong Breath Control

All Qi Gong practices require the regulation of the breath, and it is necessary that you are able to perform the correct method of breathing in order to gain benefit from the exercises themselves. Simply regulating the breath on its own is a potent form of Qi Gong practice as well as a great introduction to stationary meditation.

The most common form of breathing in Qi Gong, which is used in perhaps 90% of Qi Gong exercises, is called abdominal breathing. It has this name because of the movement of the lower abdomen during the breath cycle. When you are learning this it is useful to hold one of your hands over your abdomen, just below the navel, so that you can feel the movement. As you inhale the lower abdomen should expand first and you should concentrate on drawing air right down to the bottom of your lungs. Imagine that you are drawing air right down to the bottom of your abdomen; although the diaphragm does not come down this far it is a useful visualisation to aid you in getting the correct movement. As you draw more air in the expansion rises up your torso like a wave, to encompass the chest. Remember that you are drawing air into the centre of your body, so there should be some expansion noticeable in the lower back as well as the abdomen, although this is less pronounced. The breath should be as deep and full as possible without straining; you should stay as relaxed as possible throughout. As you inhale the abdomen contracts first, followed by the chest, as you gently push the air out of your lungs from the bottom upwards.

A common addition to this abdominal breathing is to also practice a subtle control of the sphincter muscle of the anus. To do this the sphincter is relaxed and pushed slightly outwards during the
inhalation, and drawn slightly inwards for the exhalation. The movement should be very slight.

This kind of breathing deepens relaxations and increases chi flow. Practiced on its own it can reduce stress and improve general health, but it is also the first step in learning to regulate and control the flow of chi within the body.

Starting With Simple Things

Is Your Home Ready For an Air Conditioner

If you are looking into getting air conditioning installed into your home, there are things that you will want to consider first. You will want to make sure that your home is ready to go for the installation before you will be able to see any actual work get done. Whether you are looking to get a system installed for the first time or you want to upgrade your current system, fall may be the time to do it. This is simply because hardly anyone thinks about their air conditioning units as winter approached. Because of this there may be some great offers that you can take advantage of. This may be the time of year where the companies will have less scheduling conflicts as well. So the installation can generally be done when it suits you the most.

Along with upgrading or having a new installation done, you will want to check out the insulation that you currently have. While many people think of insulation as something that is needed to keep a house warm. The fact is though; it is also needed in order to keep the house cool. Just as you do not want all of your warm air to escape, you do not want your cool air to escape either. Having your rooms properly insulated will save you not only money on your cooling costs but it will also help your air conditioning unit to not have to run on over drive all the time.

Now that you are ready to start getting your rooms cooled down, you have to consider the two options you have. There are the whole house units and then there are the portable air conditioners that can be carried from one location to another. The portable air conditioners are great for people who rarely use certain areas of their home. Instead of paying to cool down the entire place, you can simply cool off the rooms you use the most. If you ever have to spend time in the other areas you can simply take the portable air conditioner with you. You will have to deal with hauling it around, even when you are not feeling that up to it though.

If you have a house that is used non-stop then it is probably a good idea to go with the whole house air. This is beneficial for not only comfort but for ease as well. If you were someone that would not like having to haul potable air conditioners all over the place then this would be the option for you. So no matter which route you want to take, make sure that you are completely ready before you make the investment and you will be off to a good start. This will make sure that you are going to have an easy time getting your air hooked up. You will also find yourself saving a lot of money in the long run, which is something that many people can surely appreciate.

Home Alarm System Protection Levels

Are you confused about the different types of home alarm systems and which type is best for you? At one time, home alarm systems were pretty simple and straightforward. Unfortunately, they did not provide very well rounded coverage. Today that problem has been fixed and there are now many different options that will help you protect your home and family from a variety of threats. This may mean; however, that you have a more difficult time in deciding which option is best for you.

A basic door alarm is a good way to begin protecting your home from the garden variety burglar. This type of security system is designed to frighten away prospective burglars by sounding a loud signal. The noise alone is sufficient enough in most cases to frighten away burglars.

If you are interested in a home alarm system that is somewhat more advanced you might wish to consider a one that will also alert local fire departments and police departments. This type of system will detect the presence of floods, fire or carbon monoxide. Sensors are placed at various points throughout the home in order to emit signals when something is detected that could result in disaster. This type of system may also contain the ability to monitor temperature control as well. If you live in an area where your pipes are prone to freezing when the temperature drops, this can be a good solution to consider. Sensor will alert a monitoring system as well as you in the event of low temperatures to prevent your home from becoming damaged to pipes that may freeze and then burst.

Another option now available in high-tech security is the presence of motion detectors. These types of detectors are typically sensitive to light and have the ability to determine whether the intruder is outside the home or inside the home. Security cameras have also become increasingly popular with many high-end home alarm systems.

Major security providers like ADT provide an option for a wireless home alarm. These systems are less invasive and give you added flexibility when retrofitting an old home. Make sure to check with your provider first as some brands like Brinks do not have this amount of flexibility.

Glass break detectors are another common feature of advanced home alarm systems. These detectors assist in detecting when glass within the home is broken. In the event a burglar attempts to break into your home by breaking a window or door, this will be detected and a signal alerted.

Pressure mats can be placed underneath rugs in the home and will provide an alert in the event there is an unwanted presence in the home. This particular feature is helpful in alerting the presence of a burglar when perhaps only an elderly parent or the kids are at home.

Panic buttons connect emergency numbers to the home alarm system. As a result, in the event of an emergency, the appropriate numbers will be immediately contacted such as the hospital, police or fire department.

Cameras can be placed at strategic locations around your property, providing you with the ability to view your property both from inside your home as well as from work or even while you are away on vacation if you like. This means that your home is continually protected and will have the visual footage to make sure that prospective burglars will not be able to succeed in their plans to invade your home.

Installing a home alarm system is definitely a step in the right direction to securing your home. Burglars are more likely to bypass your home to reduce their risk of getting caught.

A tip from Bruce Kelly - Home alarm systems give you added protection. Get as much information as you can in order to determine what type of solution and which provider is best for you.

Remodeling Your Home

Decorating Your Home With Art Deco Design

There are many style options you can choose from to decorate your home in today's day and age, even options that one would never have considered back in the 20th century or even in the past few decades. This includes one style from the 20th century that seems to be regaining some popularity recently, and that style is art deco.

Back in the 1920s to 1930s, art deco design was very popular. In that time period, art deco was considered to be functional, elegant, and ultra modern. Art deco designers would often reject the traditional ideas and materials of decoration and interior design, instead opting to use more unusual materials such as ebony, marble, stainless steel, lacquer, aluminum, inlaid wood, sharkskin, and zebra skin.

The use of harder, metallic materials to construct the furniture used in art deco design were to reflect the celebration of the machine age. Sometimes, art deco designers would alter the furniture they had to give it more of a look that fit the art deco interior design. This is why the process of Lacquering (or giving the furniture a glossy finish) was created.

In addition, art deco designers liked to emphasize clean lines and geometric shapes. Strong, sharp angles were often added to the layout of the room to emphasize the art deco interior design.

If you are considering turning your living room or bedroom into a room that accentuates the art deco design, here are some ideas and tips to consider.

Realize that there is often a pyramidal effect on the rooms that use the art deco design, thanks to the Aztec and Egyptian elements that influence art deco.

Giving your room a gradual lessening of form can present a perception of strength and endurance to those who experience your room. That is why this type of interior design was very popular back during the days of the Great Depression, as people tried to display their financial strength and stability in that dark economic period.

There are other ways to emphasize the art deco interior design in your room.

One way is to add more furniture pieces and accessories that have black and green tones to your room, as black and green are primary colors in art deco design.

Adding intriguing and unusual accessories, such as distinctive artwork, is another way to add to the art deco flavor of your room.

Another way is to have wall-to-wall carpet that coordinates well with the art deco design of your room. This would include having neutral color carpet to help soften up the intensity of the art deco interior design.

You should also pay attention to the lighting in your room, as it should match up well with art deco decorating. Lamps with geometric glass shades often work best with art deco interior design.

In addition to artificial lighting, you should also consider the natural lighting from your windows and the window treatments. With art deco design, going with ordinary-looking drapes may be your best option, though if you want to have people focus on your window style, you could consider using vintage drapes instead.

Decorating your home with art deco design involves using materials that are different from traditional materials, such as ebony, marble, stainless steel, sharkskin, and zebra skin. Lacquering is also a key component in art deco design. Art deco also emphasizes clean lines and geometric shapes, especially strong, sharp angles. Art deco design continues to make a comeback after being very popular in the 1920s and 1930s; if you want an ultra modern, functional, yet elegant design, art deco would likely be your best interior design option.

Protect Your Home With Storm Windows

Waterproof Paint

Water damage can come from a variety of sources including surface or rain water, underground water under hydrostatic pressure or internal sources. Waterproof paint applications in effected areas can solve these problems for you.

The next time you take a shower, consider the damage you may be causing to your home. Actually, one shower won't cause moisture damage in itself, but together with washing clothes, steam from cooking, and dishwashing, a good deal of moisture is added to the atmosphere of your home each day. And on the outside, rain and snow regularly drop a good deal of moisture on your house. All these factors can cause extensive damage both to your home's appearance and structure. Moisture can cause ugly rusting or decay of building materials, and blistering or peeling of painted surfaces. It can warp wood, and promote mildew and other fungi growth on our home.

But moisture need not be a menace, if you are aware of its threat and take the proper steps to prevent its accumulation in unwanted areas of your home. You should understand how moisture damage occurs, learn how to prevent future damage, and know how to repair present damage with waterproof paint.

Each year rain, ice and snow can expose the outside of your home to great quantities of moisture. Moisture has historically been the cause of damage to building structures, but because of recent energy-saving measures, environmental factors can cause more havoc to homes than they used to.

As with exterior damage, it doesn't help much to repair the surface of the interior of your home before you have corrected the problems that caused the damage in the first place. Check for interior surface damage in such moisture-prone areas as kitchens, bathrooms, laundry rooms, attics and basements. Before moving forward with a waterproof paint application you will want to be sure to look past cosmetic damage and check insulation and sheetrock to see if it is wet.

The key to preventing future moisture problems inside your home is to make sure your house is tight enough to prevent moisture from entering but at the same time adequately ventilated to allow interior-produced moisture to escape. Most importantly, you want moisture to escape through vents, windows and other openings created for that purpose - not through walls and ceilings where it will eventually cause structural damage.

Certain types of paint can be excellent vapor barriers, helping to keep moisture from permeating walls and ceilings. Vapor barriers, when used to coat interior ceilings and walls, inhibit inside moisture from penetrating these surfaces and damaging insulation and exterior finishes. Many Top Secret Coatings products work well as moisture barriers and there are now special vapor barrier primer (TS-401 Vapor Guard Primer) and waterproof paint (TS 100 1 Part Epoxy, TS-2, TS-4) available as well. A waterproof paint topcoat can be applied over the vapor barrier primer if the latter is not available in the color of your choice.

By ridding your home of moisture traps, promptly repairing any damage, and repainting or re-coating properly, your home will be more energy efficient, protected from harsh weather, and more attractive.

Soy Wax in Candles

Although soy wax has been discovered just recently, a huge number of people are choosing this kind of wax when it comes to candles. This is because they believe that soy wax when used in candles is natural and is not harmful to the environment and to people. Aside from that, such candles are also cheaper compared to candles that use various types of wax.

People love variety and that is the reason why you will find a huge variety of soy wax candles in the market. Those who collect candles are very happy when they come across soy candles that are made to come in various shapes, sizes, and colors.

The most interesting candles that are made using soy wax are the ones that are molded. To create such a kind of candle, the melted soy wax is poured into a mold. The mold is the one responsible for the shape. So when the soy wax cools, it takes the shape of the mold that it is in. There are special molds used in creating candles made from soy wax however for those who make their own candles at home, there are household items that can be also used as molds. Some people use cans, Tetrapak containers, and even the molds used in making cupcakes or tarts. The important thing to keep in mind is that the mold should be able to hold the melted soy wax and should be able to withstand the hot temperature of the wax.

There are also the pillar soy candles. Though they are made using a mold, they are not usually classified as molded candles. If you have noticed, there are a lot of pillar candles available in the market at present. They are one of the most popular types of soy wax candles. For those who are just starting with candle-making, the best thing to create will be container candles. There is no need for you to use molds to make such. All you need is a good and strong container like a small jar. You just pour the melted soy wax inside it, place the wick and let it cool. And you have your candle.

BsaB soy wax candles come in various sizes and shapes. These natural candles are very popular in the market and have been used for various purposes like in spas, in homes as decorations, and as aromatherapy elements

How to Remove Crayon From Carpet and Walls

Crayons are a wonderful tool for little ones to express their creativity, and you'll proudly display their efforts on your refrigerator for years. But accidental artwork on other surfaces around the home are not things you want hanging around.

If you have crayon mashed into the carpet, you can't remove it quite the same way as wax, which is a mistake that many people have made. You should first scrape off all the crayon you can, either with a spoon or dull side of a blade like a butter knife.

A thin piece of cardboard such as part of a cereal box will come in handy. Cut a section and place it behind the clump/spot where the crayon is, then carefully spray the crayon mark with WD-40 oil, making sure to use the "needle nozzle" tube so the oil doesn't get on more than it needs to. Next, take a small, stiff bristle brush and work upwards in the nap, while laying the crayon mark on the cardboard. Wipe with paper towels. Spray on more WD-40, work in some dish detergent with the brush, then wipe off with a damp sponge. Move your cardboard around, so that you're always working against a clean section. If the stain remains, repeat the last oil and soap treatment, then wash the section of carpet with a Shop Vac or other cleaner.

Did someone use the living room wall for their canvas? Just take the same can of WD-40 (a car part lubricant) and spray it on the marks, then wipe off with a soft cloth. Treat again if a stain remains, then wash the wall with warm water and dish detergent.

Numbers in Feng Shui and the Fortunate Number 8

There has been so much discussion about feng shui with the Olympic Games in Beijing and in particular the symbolism and meaning of numbers. It was interesting to hear western broadcasters repeatedly refer to the fortunate number "8". So Let's talk about the number 8 in feng shui terms. Presently, we are in what is called a period 8 cycle.

Cycles in feng shui are 20 years in length and the period 8 cycle began in 2004. The number 8 is associated with the northeast mountain, the earth element and the life aspiration of knowledge. We are careful not to place a water feature in the northeastern area of the home or property during period 8 because the water element competes with the earth element and in feng shui we are seeking to harmonize the elements. The numbers 1 through 9 are associated with the compass directions and their corresponding elements (fire, wood, earth, metal and water) plus the center of the home.

Because we are in period 8, the numbers 9 and 1 also having increasing energy. One aspect of the feng shui assessment is to analyze the numbers in each area of the home and harmonize the elements associated with them. For example, let's say the bedroom has a 3/8 combination. 3 = wood and 8 = earth; wood controls earth. In this 3/8 combination, the 8 is in the wealth/ career position and can be interpreted as 3 wood controlling or dominating the 8 earth wealth/career energy in the bedroom. As a consultant I would recommend to my client to place a red accent (perhaps a red candle) in this area of the home. The red candle or red accent serves to burn up the 3 wood and add to the 8 earth alleviating the dominating cycle of the elements and releasing the wealth/career position of the 8 earth.

This is one feng shui factor I always address when I am on a consultation. What is the number combination based on? It is based on the home's year of construction and the compass direction. On my website there are step by step instructions on how to take a compass reading (see Feng Shui Compass Instructions ). These are considered the "permanent" numbers and are part of the home's energy matrix. If you are able to supply me with the compass reading according to the instructions given and the year of construction I will send you a Customized 1 Page Report recommending which elements will harmonize the number combinations in the 8 areas plus the center of your home. The cost is $10.00.

To summarize, the fortunate number 8 being highlighted in the mainstream media is associated with the present 20 year cycle, known in feng shui circles as Period 8. The northeast part of the home is where the mountain 8 resides and your feng shui placement should include objects of art and accents that are gold. The idea is that you are unlocking the gold from the mountain! It has been a challenging economic year for so many people, particularly in the housing market, but I have to say by giving attention to the feng shui basics you can add to your own stability and support. Many of the powerful things in life are subtle.

Do You Believe in the Bible?

Do you really believe in the Bible? The other day I was listening to an audio book on the Dead Sea Scrolls. The author had a Ph.D. and of course I have no idea what the Ph.D. was in, it didn't say on the audio book cover. He made the statement below and it got me thinking about our beliefs and what we believe in.

"For those who want proof positive that the Bible is true, there's really only one thing to say for those who disbelieve no proof is possible for those who believe no proof is necessary."

The statement is coming from an educated person and it kind of sounds like an oxymoron. For those who want proof positive that the Bible is true, there is really only one thing to say, for those who disbelieve no proof is possible. What does that mean to a Christian and this same statement applies to most religions throughout the world. If you want proof positive, there really isn't any is there.

Researchers can prove certain parts of the Bible like, people's names and that some of these people were actually alive and have some history to them, geographical locations like cities, rivers and oceans, and some beneficial facts to religious believers. I don't want to single just the Bible out here, other religious text can't be proven, proof positive.

There are a lot of sections in the Bible that quite possibly could never be proven. Unless of course God or some sort of superior being with superior knowledge could give us positive proof that the Bible was true. This of course would eliminate the need for faith and faith is pretty much the most important part of believing in most religions.

Let's take the last part of the statement, "for those who believe no proof is necessary". Where do we draw the line between belief and facts, where do we draw a line between faith and truth. What is it going to take to get religious believers to start doing some research on their religious beliefs, instead of following with only faith. You should question your religion.

If you're going to believe in something like the Bible, you have no right to question someone else's beliefs and their religion. The next time a Christian judges a Muslim or Hindu about their beliefs, start thinking about yours a little more clearly, before you pass judgment on someone else who is living their life based on faith.

Religious Faith Or Religious Facts

If you're a religious follower and believe in your religion, I would like to ask you a question. Do you base religious beliefs on facts or faith? Let's start out with this and assume that you answered, that you do base your religious beliefs on faith, with little factual information to back it up.

Basing your religious beliefs on faith alone can lead you to believe, what ever someone else tells you. For example, if you go to your place of worship and the religious leader reads something from your scriptures to the followers, do you assume that this is a fact. Are you going to do a little research if something doesn't sound right. If everyone else shares a common opinion about something in your religion, but it isn't true, wouldn't you like to know about it or are you one of those people who didn't even listen and really doesn't even want to be at your place of worship.

Faith can create a lot of problems all by itself. Whenever you start digging into most religions, like I have, and mind you, I'm no expert and do not claim to be an expert in religious beliefs. I'm trying to get people to learn about their religion. This information can be obtained from your religious scriptures, books on other religions, information on the Internet and last but not least talking to other people, outside and within your religion.

Religious facts are hard to come by, when you're beliefs are unrealistic. I can't explain the creation of the world or what year it will be destroyed, but it does seem a little unrealistic and hard to believe that a superior entity created this world and possibly the universe. At the same time I cannot argue with this or disprove it.

With this in mind, I wouldn't go around telling everyone that God or a God created the universe. I just don't have any proof and it's as simple as that. Why would I want to instill this belief into my children or another person? No one on earth has this information.

Try not to base your life on religious faith alone. Just the simple fact that you are reading this article, tells me that you have an interest in furthering your education about religion, whether it's yours or someone else's. You might not be able to find all of the facts to support your religious beliefs but at least it's a start and you're heading in the right direction.

What is the Evil Eye?

The Evil Eye has been around since the beginning of time. It simply means sending someone a thought that seems intrusive or invasive or has the power to hurt him or her. The bad fortune that results is considered to have been caused by envy. The evil eye is not necessarily considered to be intentional or associated with witchcraft or sorcery. Oddly enough, this thought form could actually be complimentary in nature. The origins of the Evil Eye are Middle-Eastern and Mediterranean. The concept was introduced into the Americas, South Pacific Islands, Asia, Africa and Australia by European explorers.

Sending someone the evil eye comes from the concept that we all have a Third Eye, located in the center of our forehead. Blinding, fogging or obscuring the third eye is often the intent of the energys sender. Most of us have experienced the weird power of the phenomenon. All it takes is a gaze that seems to be unfriendly, indifferent or blank and seems to a couple of seconds too long. We think about it for a few minutes afterwards or perhaps an image of the person staring at us preoccupies our thoughts occasionally for the rest of the day. Perhaps that is why the British and Scottish term for the evil eye is overlooking. It implies that a gaze has remained too long upon the coveted object, person or animal.

The evil eye is also known as the envious or invidious eye. In Italian it is called the malocchio and in Spanish the malojo (loosely translated as the bad eye) The evil eye is known as ayin horeh in Hebrew; ayin harsha in Arabic, droch shuil in Scotland, mauvais oeil in France, bsen Blick in Germany, and was known as oculus malus among the classical Romans.

The original belief is that any person can harm your children, livestock, fruit trees or any other evidence of prosperity just by looking at the spoils of all your good will and hard work with envy. Ironically, the curse of the evil eye is thought to be provoked by inappropriate displays of spiritual pride or excessive beauty. There is a theory that very famous people and celebrities suffer more personal misfortune than others simply because they are subjected to more overlooking and envy than others.

This superstition might have some grounding in evolutionary psychology as usually one animal is thought to dominate or be aggressive to another simply by staring at it for too long. Psychologically speaking, staring or glaring at someone is officially considered an intrusion into your affairs. Apparently, there is a fine line between casting a glance to casting a spell. In these post Celestine Prophecy times, this kind of stare could be compared to a kind of etheric laser beam or amoebic arm that rips open your aura. Others would describe the infliction of the evil eye as the projection of an image (such as the image of the person you have offended or hurt) so that you see only that to the exclusion of all other sight. In other words, you see that person wherever you go or feel that your lifes events are always colored by your dealing with that person. Another symptom is the inability to proceed with ordinary, daily events without feeling somehow compelled to make things right with the person you have often unknowingly offended with your grandiosity.

It is common folklore that the evil eye has a dehydrating effect on its victim. It is thought to cause vomiting, diarrhea, the drying up of the milk of nursing mothers and livestock, problems with the blood, eyesight lack of rain, the drying up of wells, the withering of fruit and impotence in men. Clumsiness, stomachaches, dry coughs, diarrhea, itching, hair loss, dry skin are all thought to be physical symptoms of an evil eye attack e. On the astral level it is thought to cause the drying up of prana, chi, life force and the easy flow of prosperity in life. Part of this image might derive from the idea also, of muddy, murky or poisoned vision that is somehow attached to the victims third eye.

Almost everywhere that the evil eye belief exists, it is said to be caused accidentally by envy or praise. Thus the phrase Pride Goeth Before a Fall In certain Mediterranean and eastern cultures, one is careful not to praise a child too much, lest it invite the subconscious balancing effect of the evil eye. A classic situation would be the barren woman who praises the newborn baby of a new child. Such praise would be considered inappropriate and thought to bring the evil child. One of the remedies for this would be for the mother to spit, to symbolically rehydrate the situation. Also, she may speak ill of the child OT counteract the effects of the praise, which might have malefic effects on the child later.

The belief that individuals have the power to cast the evil eye on purpose is more idiosyncratic to Sicily and Southern Italy, although the belief has certainly spread elsewhere to the Southern United States and the Latin Americas. Such people are known as jettatore (projectors). They are not necessarily considered evil or envious, just born with an unfortunate embarrassing talent that causes others to avoid them. In ancient cultures, if you were thought to be the possessor of an evil eye, you were often negated by the rest of society and went unrecognized on the street without meeting anyones eyes.

Perhaps one of the most familiar preventative measures against the evil eye is the hand gesture. The Mano Cornufo or Horned Hand involves extending the first and index fingers from a fist. The Mano Fico or Fig hand involves placing the thumb in between first and second fingers.
Historically there have been many cures for the evil eye:

In Italy, the evil eye is diagnosed by dripping olive oil into a vessel filled with water. If the oil conglomerates into the shape of an eye than the victim is considered officially cursed. Prayers are recited until the droplets of oil no longer create an eye shape.

In Eastern Europe charcoal, coal or burnt match heads are dropped into a pan of water/. If the items float then the person is considered to be the victim of a curse.

In the Ukraine, a form of ceromancy or candle reading is used to diagnose the curse. Melted wax is dripped from a candle into a pan of water. If the wax spits, splatters, or sticks to the side of the bowl then the patient is considered to be under the influence of the malefic eye. Usually the patient is cleansed with Holy Water. He or she is pronounced cured when the dripped wax sinks the bottom of the bowl in a round ball.

In Greece Mexico and other places, the official cure is to invite the culprit responsible for the evil eye to spit in a vessel of the holy water that is consumed by the victim.

In Mexico, rolling a raw egg over the body of the victim is the antidote. Afterwards, it is cracked open and if the metaphysician or healer divines the shape of an eye in the yolks then the person is considered to be cursed. Several eggs may be repeatedly rolled over the persons body until an egg without an eye if found. Sometimes the egg is placed underneath the persons bed overnight and cracked open in the morning.

In China the remedy for the evil eye is the Pa Kua mirror, a six-sided mirror that is hung on the front door or placed in the front window to reverse bad energy back to the sender. Some of these mirrors are convex to reflect back the bad poison darts or arrows of multiple ill wishers and some are concave to reflect energy in a definite direction back at, for instance, a nosy neighbor, whose gaze may have lingered on your garden of tulips for too long. In Feng Shui, mirrors are often used as a cure all to reflect negative energy back at all kinds of things people, bad architecture, traffic, neighbors, physical obstructions such as trees or rocks or anything else that might considered to be a conductor of Har Shui (negative vibrations).

In India the mirroring back of the evil eye takes the form of small mirrors that are sewn, braided or crocheted into clothing. This mirroring back of bad energy is also familiar to practitioners of Wicca and Lukumi or Santeria. In India, the human eye is also considered to be a mirror of the soul. Indian women wear kohl or heavy black makeup to emphasize their eyes not only to shield themselves from evil eye but also to prevent themselves from accidentally inflicting it on others. In India cords strung with blue beads are placed on newborn babies. When the cord breaks and the beads are lost the child is considered to have a strong enough aura to protect him or herself from the evil eye. Red cords worn upon the wrist or neck are thought to have a powerful effect against ocular malevolence. A silver charm called Eye of Buddha which references the Gautama Buddha is also worn against astral attack.

In Italy, gold, silver or gems carved or cast into the shape of the Mano Fica or Mano Cornufa are used to repel the evil. The most coveted ones are made of red coral, but many versions exist today made of gemstones and plastic. They are worn by men to protect against the withering of the genitals thought to be caused by the bad eye. Also Italian in origin is the Corno or horn or devils horn amulet that is thought to protect against the same dysfunction. The womens version is made from a twig of red coral.

In Arab cultures, superstitious types wear an eye in the form of a stone cast in the center of a hand shaped bone or metal charm A common Egyptian charm is the Buckle of Isis which represents the menstrual pad of the Goddess Isis who was the Mother of all living things. Stuffing a little prayer or spell inside a locket that is hung around the neck is the common European custom for protecting oneself against deadly gazes.

A light worker such as myself might advise you to protect yourself in the following contemporary ways:

Always maintain the belief that nobody has the power to hurt you with a look. This in itself is a very powerful thought form.

Before you go out, imagine that your third eye is actually covered by something that looks like a small pocket mirror. If you are a psychic or a healer then simply close your third eye and dont open it unless you want to look.

If you are feeling haunted or upset as the result of a look, press your thumb hard into the center of your forehead and imagine your third eye quickly flipping. Flick the energy away with your thumb and snap your fingers.

Always remember that what you resist often persists. The phrase Oh, so what! is one of the most powerful chemicals in the universe that you can use to dissolve negative energy.

Feng Shui Interprets The Street That Ends At Your House

The house which sits at the very end of a cul-de-sac or T-juncture is going to be receiving more energy than the other houses on either side, but this is not necessarily a bad thing. Most feng shui books illustrate how this is a very accident-prone or unhappy home and to be avoided at all costs, but occasionally it is the luckiest house on the block. Why? If the house is inherently good in its "unseen" influences, then all the chi rushing toward that house will activate the good features. So, this type of street alignment will only intensifiy whatever house type it is.

What are the unseen influences? These are the energies created inside the house based on when it was built and what precise directional orientation the house faces. As a concrete example: if you have a house that faces 345 degrees north and built in 1950, this house does not have a very good front door if it is smack in the middle of the front side of the house. It is a house type where the occupant could have head or lung problems. Now, if that same house has a street directly aligned with this front door, it would exacerbate this negative potential of the house. But what if that same house was built in 1990 instead? That house with a north door would have major prosperity energies in that location so a road directed toward it could make it even more active in a good sense.

This is just one of many examples of how the outside forces influence the inside forces and you cannot do a proper feng shui analysis without considering both the interiors and exteriors together.

If you have falllen in love with a house that happens to be at the end of a cul-de-sac, don't write it off as bad feng shui without looking at other important features to the house and getting a comprehensive evaluation to determine the real effects. Even if it is not the type of house that can benefit from the street alignment, there could easily be some good landscaping remedies to off set this oncoming flow of air currents. With enough of a front yard, you could have a half wall, a hedge, a fence, an elevated sculpture, trees or plantings to buffer or re-direct the otherwise direct line of chi.

Knowing the Lucky House Numbers in Feng Shui For Luck

House numbers in feng shui have been one of the most revered and sacred information from this famed and authentic Chinese tradition. Such is the power and forcefulness of these house numbers in the art of feng shui that even real estate and property selling is influenced by the house numbers in Chinese based localities and in areas where the art of feng shui is looked up to as an idealistic and impressive art form.

According to the art of feng shui, a house number may not only affect your life, but also of every person's life you come in contact with. Inauspicious numbers are harbingers of bad luck, while auspicious numbers are a sign of happiness and joy to come into your life. The interpretations of feng shui as to which numbers are auspicious and which house numbers are inauspicious are calculated by several methods. It includes the equations and calculations involving the five feng shui elements and the ever charismatic elements of yin and yang.

The five elements of feng shui includes the Fire, Earth, Wood, Metal and Water elements that help you recognize and channelize the natural forces of energy. The yin-yang is the balancing force of the universe according to feng shui theory. Yin is the feminine symbol while yang is masculine. Feng shui maintains that both should be equally present in the house to attain eternal energy. In the case of house numbers in feng shui, both of the above discussed entities of feng shui contribute.

Even in the business of real estate and property sales in China, Hong Kong and other Chinese populated states, feng shui house selling is dominant. A house or property with an auspicious house number according to feng shui will conventionally and regularly beat a house with an inauspicious number in selling prices. This happens even though the latter may be ten times better than the former as far as area, space or luxuries are concerned.

The auspicious or unlucky quality of a house number in feng shui is not equal to the world's viewpoint on lucky and unlucky numbers. To the western world number '13' is unlucky but its lucky as per feng shui is concerned. This is because the number 13 sounds like 'sure live' implying long life! Similarly number 4 is unlucky according to feng shui as it sounds like 'dead'!

Therefore, even though house numbers in feng shui influence people in choosing their residential accommodation, it actually has more to do with the psychology of people than the ancient Chinese tradition.

Feng Shui - Simple Floor Plans 1, 2, 3

Assembling a simple floor plan can be no easy matter. If you are lucky enough to have an architectural to-scale floor plan or your home, office or abode you are way ahead of the game and the pack. On the other hand most of us do not have the luxury of a to-scale floor plan at our fingertips.

Do not despair assembling such a floor plan is not difficult. Its all in the process of making a simple plan with the sitting direction orientated on the bottom of the page or pages.

What are the steps to drawing up such a document? First of all you must consider that all exterior and interior entrances and doorways must be included. Along with this are all the windows, beds and desks. Next accurately measure your interior spaces. The key here is total accuracy. Nothing else will do. Easiest and best are the new laser type measuring devices that make accurate measurement a snap. If you are caught for lack of supplies or finances a standard regular old fashioned tape measure will do. Just follow the adage of "measure twice, cut once". Some people have conducted inaccurate measurements using their actual feet and estimating distances. This can be considered false economy both in terms of the actual final costs as well as your time. Measure all extremely accurately and comprehensively.

Measure the length of each room by starting with the back walls. If you can begin with the back wall that is connected close to your sitting area of your dwelling. Continue on with adjacent rooms starting of course with rooms with the back walls. Move forward in the building towards the front part sequentially. When you are finished with these accurate measurements you will find it extremely easy to draw a simple to-scale floor plan. It's easiest to make changes to your "map" or diagram if you use either and erasable pen or a simple pencil rather than a permanent ink pen.

The next step, in this process, is to divide your dwelling or business space into nine equal "cells". This can be simply done by adding together the lengths of each room. Next divide the length sum and the width sum by three. You might find this whole process of calculations easier , if you attach simple pieces of masking tape at each of the dividing markers on your inside walls. "Masking " tape is used by professional painters as a standard means of attaching to or masking areas of walls without any apparent or lasting damage done to the exterior surfaces and finishes of walls. Along the way note the corresponding marker or markers on your floor plan. Now with a colored pencil, draw a line connecting the length and width markers. You will now when you have completed this step when you have a floor plan onto which there is a grid of nine equal cell areas. If the cells appear not to be proportionate to your actual spaces then check or even recheck your work. Of course if your home is more than one story high, you must draw a separate floor plan for each floor of the building.

Now you are on the home stretch. The final step is to label your completed 9 cell floor plan. Outside, label each of the eight directions. Mark down and note sitting and facing areas with identifiable diagrams and markers noting each family member's area or areas.

Voila you now have completed your architecturally correct to-scale floor plan. Feng Shui.

Feng Shui Kitchens Are the Center of a Home

The heart of the home is the kitchen. This is where families eat their meals, gather to talk, and is often the area of the home that friends and family congregate for good food and conversation. From both a practical as well as symbolic point of view the kitchen is a place that nourishes us and contributes to a prolonged life.In Feng Shui kitchens are a sign of abundance and wealth.

Ideally a kitchen would be located in the center of the house, ensuring that the abundance, wealth, and the positive energy is kept inside the home.If the kitchen is located too close to the front door or any back doors it is possible for all of the positive energy that is created in the kitchen to escape.

In a kitchen that is in tune with the principles of Feng Shui, the food you eat will provide not only nourishment but also provide your body with positive energy. The food you consume provides your body the fuel it needs to live, and if prepared in a kitchen with a harmonious flow of energy the food you eat will also be in tune with your body and nature. Happy atmosphere = happy meals = a happy family.

Incorporating healthy, natural foods in our diets is part of good Feng Shui. Eating Organic fruits and vegetables, and other foods that are free of preservatives and dyes are healthier, better for you, and provide more of what the body needs for an optimal lifeforce.There are other areas in the kitchen that can help you maintain a healthy balance in your life and a positive energy, including;

1.Ensure that your kitchen is warm and inviting.Natural light is best, but regardless; ensure that the kitchen has good lighting.Play with the window coverings or curtains to allow light to filter in naturally and remove any obstructions that may exist.Adding a skylight to your kitchen can be a great way to get additional natural light if needed and generally does not cost that much.

2. Eliminate clutter where every possible. This goes for the entire house, but clutter is something that has no place in the kitchen. Having your countertops covered with electrical appliances can create negative Chi in the kitchen.Use the rule of "a place for everything and everything in its place." Store little used appliance in kitchen cabinets or storage cabinets in some other part of the house.Wash dishes when they are dirty and don't allow a sink full of dishes to pile up, which can also bring down your personal Chi.

3.Plants help clean the air in your house, and add life to your kitchen - literally!Hang green plants in a window where they will receive fresh air and warm light, and will help remove unwanted household odors and fresh oxygen in to the room.Placing fresh cut flowers on the kitchen table or another countertop provides positive energy and is an instant pick-me-up.Keeping a bowl of fresh out on the table is a great way to not only add color and a spark to a room, but provides your family with healthy snacks to nourish their bodies.

4.A yellow or pale green are the best colors for a kitchen. These colors will naturally aid digestion, and pale green is also great for influencing wealth and success.

Whether you are just beginning on the Feng Shui path or if you have traveled this road for some time, applying the basic principles of Feng Shui kitchens will improve the health and happiness of you and your family and implementing these ancient practices can only mean great things for you and your family.

The Three Star Gods, Fuk, Luk, and Sau are very famous in Chinese culture. These three represents the gods of longevity, happiness, and rank. Although they are being referred to as god, they are not literally worshiped in the traditional way a religion will worship a God. The Three Star Gods, although they are not worshiped in a conventional sense, are highly regarded and are very much considered auspicious by the Chinese all over the globe. All Feng Shui stores selling Feng Shui products will have the Three Star Gods.

In the popular Chinese trinity of deities, Fuk represents prosperity, and is known as the wealth and happiness god. Luk represents authority and is known as the God of affluence and rank. On the other hand, Sau is the god of longevity and health. Feng Shui shops often represent the three together. The Three Star Gods are available as Feng Shui items and Feng Shui enhancers to attract prosperity, health, and wealth.

Being the Chinese deity of prosperity, happiness and wealth, Fuk is represented wearing a red robe and is a little taller than the other two Chinese deities. Fuk is placed on the right of Luk. Feng Shui remedies have it that ever twentieth day during the seventh lunar month, favors can be asked from Fuk and they will be soon granted. Fuk is known as one of the Feng Shui enhancers that will attract prosperity, happiness and wealth to come in the house or space where Fuk is placed.

On the other hand, Sau can be recognized by the bottle of nectar he is holding in his arms. Feng Shui stores say that he is carrying peach. But whatever item it is he is holding, that item symbolizes immortality. Being the Chinese deity of longevity and good health, Sau attracts good health. According to Feng Shui remedies, Sau prevents accidents and misfortune to those who reside in the space where Sau is placed.

Luk can be easily identified of the Chinese trinity of deities. He is at the center. If you go to Feng Shui shops, they will tell you that Luk is a symbol of a person's ability to reap and achieve high rewards and man's ability to improve oneself. Feng Shui remedies and Feng Shui enhancers suggest placing the three all together. Fuk, Luk and Sau when placed together at home, at your office cubicle, or place of business, the Three Star Gods can be very powerful in attracting prosperity, good health, and wealth.

To achieve the maximum attracting powers of the Three Star Gods, Feng Shui stores suggest that the Feng Shui items be placed in the living room or at the dining area. As Feng Shui enhancers, the three should also always be placed on a high table.

Feng Shui Symbols to Protect and Enhance Your Marriage

A happy and long lasting marriage so sacred and rare, that we should all be so lucky to be involved in one. The Chinese has been using feng shui symbols to attract relationship luck for hundreds of years. Here are some great feng shui tips to protect and enhance your marriage.

The dragon and the phoenix are extremely auspicious creatures that represent a happy marriage (the dragon representing the husband and the phoenix representing the wife). If you can find an amulet with these two creatures on it, carry it around with you at all times. If not, a small (never too big) picture of the dragon and phoenix in the bedroom will bring luck into the marriage. These celestial creatures are benevolent beings that not only bring happiness into the marriage, but also protect the marriage against malevolent influences.

A pair of mandarin ducks is also most auspicious for a marriage. In the wild, mandarin ducks mate for life, and will only look for a new partner after the old one has died. These are excellent feng shui symbols for a happy marriage. Have a pair of mandarin duck figurines in the living room or bedroom. You must never have more than a pair of mandarin ducks in a room. Having more than one pair symbolize extra-marital affairs.

As we all know the Southwest direction represents your luck in romantic relationships and is dominated by the earth element. Place a crystal figurine of a pink lotus in the southwest to enhance your marriage. The lotus flower is symmetrical from all angles, and is the ultimate symbol for perfection and purity. Placing a crystal lotus in the Southwest will ensure that the marriage will be free of obstacles.

Natural Crystals and Stones - Their Metaphysical Qualities and Uses

Over the centuries, people from all over the world have been intrigued by the metaphysical qualities of stones, or more appropriately called minerals. It has been recognized that all that exists is in a constant state of vibration, and crystalline structures have a particularly stable vibration which resists the influence of other vibration frequencies.

Minerals, particularly in their crystalline form, stimulate healing based upon the property of sympathetic vibration or resonance. They have very specific points of resonance with one of our seven major energy centers (chakras). The colours of the stones seem to have a bearing on the qualities of the vibrations. This is more or less similar to the colours represented by the seven charkas which also coincide with the seven colours of the rainbow. (Crown chakra - violet, Blow chakra - indigo, Throat chakra-blue, Heart chakra - green, Solar Plexus chakra - yellow), Sacral chakra - orange, and Base chakra red). These resonant frequencies set up an electromagnetic field.

If we believe that all human beings have interweaving energy bodies (human aura) beyond their physical shell, and they are being electromagnetic in nature, it naturally follows that they can be influenced by the electromagnetic resonance of minerals and crystals.

Diseases and illnesses have been attributed to disharmony in thought patterns, causing irregular energy flow within subtle (non-physical), the etheric and physical bodies; therefore, prolonged exposure to the positive vibration of stones may have a healing effect. Other than their healing effects, minerals also offer protection against negativities and in a way bring good luck to us.

Amulets and Talisman to ward away ghosts.

Certain stones, especially those of celestial origins appear to have the power to drive away unwanted or negative energy. These are stones like those from the meteorite family - tektite, moldavites, iron or nickel meteorites - can actually ward off evil spirits. When carved with images of Buddha or deities, or when they are specifically enchanted by advanced practitioners, they can be used as very powerful talismans or amulets.

So, it is also believed that the wearing of certain amulets or talismans would protect you against ghosts. Also, some also feels that certain stones, especially the quartz family, (White Quartz, Amethyst, Ametrine, Citrine and Smoky Quartz) can offer the same protection. Other protective stones include, diamond, pyrite, hematite, obsidian, black star sapphire, black diopside, and jet. Personally, I understand that stones have a varying degree of electro-magnetic radiation. When they are worn on our body, they serve to strengthen our body energy vibration, sort of casting a protective shield over us.

One very powerful talisman I have is the image of the Earth Store (Dichang) Bodhisattva made of tektite. I also have a bracelet made of pyrite and amber, and I use to have it with me whenever I traveled overseas. In my arsenal, I also have bracelets and pendants made of iron meteorite, and they are also very potent in warding off negativities. It is also believed those moonstones are good protective stones for overseas traveling especially crossing waters. I always keep a few pieces of tumbled moonstones in my luggage.

For those who are frightened of ghosts when traveling overseas and staying in hotel rooms , they can try arranging their shoes in the Ying Yang manner - one with the sole facing up while the other in the normal position - at the foot of their beds.

Amulets and talismans are similarly charged with strong vibrations by their makers - monks and priests alike, and they serve the same purpose as the stones. At my level, I am able to magnetize stones and any objects to confer upon them stronger radiation by using my energisation method or by chanting of mantras.

Spirits In Stones

There are belief that some stones contain memories of the past while some become dwelling place for some life forms, just like the hermit crabs that inhabit the shell after the shellfish have died. My spiritual friend Stella has the ability to communicate with stones and she claimed she often saw impish looking creatures residing in some stones. Once I was meditating with one Labradorite ball (a kind of felspar stone which is opaque with luminous blue against grey background) and spotted images of a woman clad in Greek-like gown amidst some Roman like pillars inside the stone. She had almond shape eyes and shape features and appeared annoyed by my unwelcome intrusion. There was another stone, a piece of Rhodonite - a pink colour stone with black Manganese steaks, that I could see images of dome shapes structure. I also recalled another instance when an old lady handed me a piece of jade which she retrieved from the exhumed grave of her mother died long ago, and asked me whether it was alright for her daughter-in-law to wear it. The moment I picked up the jewelry I could feel a painful sensation in my stomach. I asked her whether she could recall whether her mother suffered some sort of ailment of the stomach, and she confirmed it. I cleansed the stone for her but she told me she had changed her mind about giving it to her daughter-in-law and instead chose to keep it in the jewelry box. Jade is said to have the unusual quality of protecting its owner. It would break into pieces whenever the wearer encounter dangerous situations; the folklore has it that it blocks off the dangers on behalf of its owner.

Stones For Attracting Fortune

Chinese believes that wearing of certain stones would bring them good fortune. Jade is the most favoured stone adorn not only to bring good luck to the wearer but it also offers protection as well. For those gamblers who are ever hopeful windfall, they may wear yellow gemstones - yellow sapphire, topaz, or citrine. Some may even carry a pyrite doughnut together with a dollar coin in their wallet. Green stones are for attracting wealth generated from career, and they include not only jade but also emerald, peridot, quartz with chloride inclusions, aventurine, malachite, and amazonite. Besides wearing them as semi-precious stones set in rings and pendants, some of the tumbled stones (aventurine, malachite, and amazonite) can be placed in cash registers to help enhance daily takings from retailed businesses.

Stones and Feng-shui

Feng-Shui, or Geomancy, is in a manner of speaking also about energy - Energy caused by the landscape, magnetic forces and flows, seasonal fluctuations in energy flows, celestial and planetary influences, and positioning of static objects in the environment, and how your own body energy copes with and resonates with all these causes of energy. The western application of Feng-Shui is to bring an array of scientific equipment into a location and test out the various forms of energy in the area. If you are sensitive to energy, you can actually feel the influence of "Feng-Shui" - the good and bad "Chi" - rather than relying entirely on the Feng Shui principles practiced by the masters. Since stones have positive vibrational energy, they can be deployed to improve the Feng-shui of the building if placed at the correct position. For example, the left hand corner of the main hall of the house diagonally opposite the entrance is considered the wealth position; to enhance positive energy in this corner one could emplace amethyst geode. This is a better substitute for putting round leaf plants there, as traditionally recommended by Feng-shui masters. Other than putting up mirrors or wind chimes at our windows to block off negative energy from some ill-formed structures or landscape facing our house, we could hang faceted cut crystal balls. Against the sunlight, these faceted balls could reflect specks of rainbow lights into the house and create a wonderful sight as they are seen as if dancing on the walls.
