Solo-Professionals Overlook Outdated Information on Web Pages

In 2009, how you make money as a work-at-home entrepreneur is nothing like it was 2, 3, even 5 years ago. Times have changed - drastically - and so has how your potential buyers spend their money.

You can no longer afford to show outdated information in the hopes that someone will buy your wares. Why? Because it's not a true representation of how your product or service can work in today's world. And, if you truly want to help others (vs. just turning a quick buck), give your web site(s) a quick review and see if any of these apply to your information.

  1. Bank Statements/Checks. In an effort to show you that you have made"real money" using your own program, youmay sometimes show a bank statement orcheck. When you look at these items, what date do they show?If the date is more than a year old, are you sure you're not misleading the potential buyer? The world was much different in 2007, 2006 and prior to that time. What held true then, does not hold true today.Unless you can show recent proofof sales, remove these from your sales page until you can showinformation more reflective of the times.
  2. Web SiteDate.Atthe bottom of every web site you have, there isa copyright date (or their should be).Look at that date. If your sitehasn't been updatedwithin a year of the current year, what does this show to potential buyers? It shows a lack of attention to detail. Maybe this is just an oversight on your part, but this date should be used as a reminder to yourself to review yourinformation.Show your potential buyer that you are up-to-date and how your product/service works in the world as it is right now!.
  3. Testimonials. How often do you check your testimonials? One of the most horrifying things that can happen is having a testimonial redirect someone to a pagethat is no longer there, or has nothing to do with what the testimonial says.A testimonial is a way for your potential buyer to validate that your product or service is worthwhile. If they do their research and visit the web pages of the people giving you testimonials, youbetter make sure that what they see is what you want them to see.Review your testimonial page at least every 3 months and ensure you're getting the benefit you expect.

Cash is hard to come by for everyone these days- and your potential buyers areno exception. Part of earning their dollars is offering a quality product and service that is in keeping with the times. It's just the little things - like those mentioned above - that yield the biggest reward!
